Description
The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the Yurok Tribe for the demolition and removal of the former Redwood Hostel at Redwood National Park. The project aims to eliminate an unsafe structure that poses a risk to trespassers, employees, and visitors. The recipient will be responsible for recruiting and hiring craftsmen, providing materials and equipment, and removing demolished materials from the site. The National Park Service will provide project management and inspections, ensure disposal records are provided, and ensure all required compliance activities are completed.
• The project includes the demolition of the hostel and associated aboveground buildings and structures.
• Debris will be removed from the site and disposed of in a legal manner.
• The removal of the building will improve the health and safety of park visitors and staff and allow planning for restoration and preservation projects for the landscape to proceed.
• The project is part of the National Park Service and the Yurok Tribe's Annual Funding Agreement, authorized under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
