The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is hosting a Proposers Day for the Perrseus program, which aims to develop and deliver functional microscale ultra-high vacuum (µUHV) prototypes. The program will be executed in two phases: Phase 1 will focus on component integration, initial form-factor design, and mitigating technical risks, while Phase 2 will culminate in the delivery of the final manufacturing process and physical test-ready µUHV prototype units. The program will bring together experts from the MEMS, photonics, process engineering, fabrication, atomic, and quantum communities.
Key aspects of the program include:
• Developing a manufacturable and scalable process for the fabrication of µUHV prototypes
• Delivering integrated hardware that demonstrates operational utility in a relevant environment
• Developing new techniques to measure vacuum parameters such as pressure levels, leak rates, and pump capacity
• Encouraging teaming arrangements among organizations with relevant expertise and capabilities
