The National Road Network Project aims to define a product specification and create a conceptual model of the National Road Network (NRN). The project involves developing a spatial framework to geolocate features and attributes, supporting safety analysis, planning applications, freight analysis, conditions, emergency response, asset management, and project locations related to all public roads in the United States. The contractor will provide all necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and non-personal services to conduct the work. The project includes tasks such as meetings and coordination, NRN specification requirements documentation, identifying sources, creating a product specification and conceptual model, validation and enhancement, and update procedures.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Developing a spatial framework to support various applications
• Creating a conceptual model with data from the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) and other secondary sources
• Defining data validation criteria and network maintenance procedures
• Providing a working conceptual model and demonstrating its feasibility
• Compiling all documentation into a single report
• Assisting FHWA in developing and presenting the NRN specification and conceptual model at professional events
