Conservation Group Youth to Assist Park's Maintenance Division

The National Park Service intends to award a single-source cooperative agreement to the American Conservation Experience to support a project that assists the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in improving cultural landscapes and gardens. The project's goal is to provide youth interns with the opportunity to understand and relate to the important work of the National Park Service, maintain visitor satisfaction, and complete the project within specified guidelines. The intern will work closely with staff to improve the cultural landscapes and gardens at all park sites, and will be mentored by the Chief of Facilities and field Facilities staff. Some of the tasks may include assisting with tree and bush pruning, gardening, minor carpentry work, and other light maintenance duties. Key aspects of the project include: • Improving cultural landscapes and gardens at all park sites • Providing youth interns with the opportunity to understand and relate to the important work of the National Park Service • Maintaining visitor satisfaction • Completing the project within specified guidelines • Mentoring the intern and providing technical support • Coordinating participant travel and living expense stipends • Collecting data documenting project progress
