The Lasker Clinical Research Scholars Program provides early‑career clinical investigators with a two‑phase career development award. Phase I (Si2) offers a tenure‑track appointment within the NIH Intramural Research Program for up to 5–7 years with an independent research budget. Phase II (R00) provides up to 3 years of NIH support for the scholar to conduct research at an extramural institution or to remain intramural. Up to five awards are available, each with a maximum total funding of $499,000. The award is intended to bridge NIH intramural and extramural research communities and accelerate the transition of promising clinical researchers to independent positions. Applicants must be U.S. entities (state, local, tribal, or higher‑education institutions, nonprofits, for‑profit, etc.) and cannot be foreign organizations. The program is funded under the Public Health Service Act and NIH grant regulations.
