National Forest Receipts

* The National Forest Receipts (NFR)/Secure Rural Schools Program provides funding to states based on income earned from activities within national forests. * The program is currently operating under the 1908 Act Amended due to the expiration of the Secure Rural Schools payment authority. * Eligible applicants will receive applications by July 1 and must return them by August 15. * The program is integrated into the Division of Community and Regional Affairs' (DCRA) new Grants Management System (DGMS), and organizations must register in DGMS to apply. * Funding is based on the average of the three highest payments made to the state during the "eligibility period" of fiscal years 1987-2000. * The program supports boroughs, cities, and regional educational attendance areas (REAAs) located within national forests. * Applications are accepted annually, with the current application period open for FY26 funding.
