PIP-II Gamma-T Power Supply Resonant Jump Capacitor

The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a proposal for the design, manufacture, and testing of custom capacitors for the PIP-II Gamma-T Power Supply Resonant Jump Capacitor. The capacitors must meet specific electrical and mechanical specifications, including a capacitance of 210 µF, a voltage rating of ±1.5 kV, and a current rating of ±1500 A peak. The proposal must include a formal quote, completed RFP form, SARC, and PUR-466 form. The evaluation criteria include specification criteria, proposal price, and other non-cost factors. • The capacitors will be used in a capacitor-discharge pulser to generate a ±878 A peak half-cosine wave pulse in a triplet string of quadrupole magnets. • The capacitors must be able to store and transfer energy effectively, with a repetition rate of 667 Hz and an operating life of 109 discharge pulses or 195,000 hours of continuous operation. • The proposal must include a description of the quality assurance program, estimated delivery time, and any exceptions to the specification.
