Description

The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island, is seeking capable sources for the production and delivery of Seat Stabilization Rocket Motors (SSRM). The device provides power to stabilize the ejection seat during emergency aircrew escape and counteracts forces that tend to pitch the seat during rocket motor burn of the rocket catapult. Interested companies must provide information on their capabilities, experience, and capacity to produce the SSRM. The NAICS code for this item is 333998, and the business size standard is 700 employees. • The SSRM consists of a mechanically fired rocket motor with twin combustion chambers and a nozzle perpendicular to the axis. • The rocket motor must conform to the dimensions shown in the Technical Data Package (TDP). • The manufacture of the SSRM requires skills such as radiographic and radiographers, propellant manufacturing and casting, energetic material and explosive handling and loading, welding, machining, and shock wave propagation. • Respondents must provide information on their company's size status, socio-economic status, and registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) database. • The U.S. Government intends to use the information submitted to develop an acquisition strategy for future requirements of the SSRM.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $10,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide information on the contract value or the production quantities. However, considering the complexity of the Seat Stabilization Rocket Motor and the requirements for its production, it is likely that the contract value will be substantial. The production of rocket motors requires specialized equipment, skilled labor, and high-quality materials, which can drive up costs. Additionally, the U.S. Government's requirement for the SSRM to conform to specific dimensions and specifications, as well as the need for radiographic equipment and skills, may also impact the contract value. A rough estimate for the contract value could be in the range of $1 million to $10 million, depending on the production quantities and the respondent's proposed pricing. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the respondent's experience and expertise in producing similar products, the availability of skilled labor and specialized equipment, and the U.S. Government's budget constraints.
