NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE – The Government requires Metalwerks Casting and Forging of an experimentally designed alloy

The U.S. Army Research Laboratory is soliciting a quote for the casting and forging of an experimentally designed alloy. The work includes vacuum arc remelting, radial forging, sectioning, and annealing. The final product will be shipped to Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The contract is expected to be a firm fixed price contract, and the government is contemplating a commercial contract type under the RFO FAR 12.201 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The evaluation criteria include price, technical capabilities, and past performance. • The alloy must be vacuum arc remelted and forged into a 4-inch diameter rod. • The forging must be performed between 2100 and 1700 °F. • The final rod must be sectioned into 5 equal parts and annealed at 12500 °F. • The product must be shipped to Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. • The contract is expected to be awarded to Metalwerks Inc, but the government will consider all proposals received prior to the closing date and time.
