Design Update for Mach 6 Nozzle

The NASA/NSSC is seeking a design update for the Mach 6 nozzle. The performer will leverage the work performed on the original NASA-funded effort to design a modified Liner 2 model. The objectives of this project include modifying the existing Mach 6 nozzle design to include "shelf" features on the blade inserts, supplying preliminary drawings, and evaluating the mechanical performance of the design. The project will be performed over a four-month period, and the performer will be required to create new models, drawings, and classical calculations of the design. • The performer will design and model the Mach 6 nozzle components to add a shelf feature that will prevent the inward motion of the blade inserts. • The performer will create preliminary drawings and final released drawings of the modified parts. • The performer will evaluate the mechanical performance of the design using loads pulled from the CDR effort of the original nozzle design.
