Description

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is accepting proposals for Crosscutting Activities in Materials Research. The emphasis is on diversity and inclusion, international cooperation, and education. Proposals are welcome for activities that do not fit elsewhere at NSF but are relevant to the materials research and education community. Some examples of supported activities include summer schools, institutes, workshops, and conferences. The NSF also encourages outreach and materials education proposals targeting underserved populations. • The program supports diversity and inclusion initiatives, such as broadening participation of underrepresented groups. • International cooperation is also a key aspect, with collaborative projects with Israel and other countries. • Education is another focus area, with support for innovative and creative ideas in materials science and engineering education. • Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) and Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) are also coordinated through this program.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $500,000

Given the nature of the grant and the lack of specific information on the budget amount, it is difficult to estimate the exact budget range. However, based on the NSF's typical grant sizes, it is possible that the budget could range from $50,000 to $500,000 or more, depending on the scope and complexity of the proposed project. The budget amount may be influenced by factors such as the number of awards, the duration of the project, and the specific goals and objectives of the proposal.
