Combined Sources Sought/Notice of Intent to Sole Source: Sub-THz VNA Extenders and Amplifier

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from potential sources for the provision of Sub-THz VNA Extenders and Amplifier. The equipment is required for the NIST CHIPS "Metrology For High-Frequency Transistor Models" project, which aims to develop a new and unique microelectronic measurement setup. The required solution consists of high-power VNA waveguide extenders and a high-power waveguide amplifier. The waveguide extenders must operate in three frequency bands: 110 GHz to 170 GHz, 140 GHz to 220 GHz, and 220 GHz to 325 GHz. The high-power waveguide amplifier must operate from 120 GHz to 140 GHz and deliver at least +30 dBm. The key requirements for this opportunity include: • WR6.5, WR5.1, and WR3.4 high-power VNA waveguide extenders with specific technical specifications • A high-power waveguide amplifier with a minimum RF output power of +30 dBm • Waveguide calibration kits for each frequency band • Accessories, including cables and power supply • A 90-degree delay shim for WR5.1 and WR3.4 connectorized waveguides NIST conducted market research and found that only Virginia Diodes appears to be capable of meeting the minimum requirements.
