Intent to Sole Source for Lifting Main Engine High Pressure Turbine Casing

The Norfolk Naval Shipyard intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract to Curtiss-Wright for the lifting and reinstallation of the #1 Main Propulsion Unit High Pressure Turbine casing. The scope of work includes providing OEM guidance and technical oversight, induction heating services, and replacement labyrinth packing material. The contractor will be responsible for providing personnel and equipment for the removal and reassembly of the turbine casing. The government will provide access to the ship and necessary facilities. The contract will be for a period of approximately 6 months, from August 3, 2026, to January 31, 2027. • The contractor must provide OEM guidance and technical oversight for the lifting and reinstallation of the turbine casing. • The contractor must provide induction heating services and equipment for the removal of casing fasteners. • The contractor must provide replacement labyrinth packing material and technical oversight for the inspection and replacement of labyrinth packing. • The contractor must provide periodic condition found reports and recommendations for noteworthy non-conformances. • The contractor must provide a completion report in approved transferable media.
