Remaining Upper Approach Wall (RUAW) - New Lock at the SOO

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting market research for the construction of the New Lock at the Soo Remaining Upper Approach Walls (RUAW) project. The project involves the installation of steel sheetpile walls and combination walls in a highly constrained marine environment. The project is divided into three work areas: Work Area A, Work Area B, and Work Area C. The contractor will be required to have heavy civil marine construction capabilities, deep foundation expertise, and logistical capacity to execute the work. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $25,000,000 and $100,000,000. Key aspects of the project include: • Work Area A: Installation of 500 linear feet of steel sheetpile wall • Work Area B: Installation of 500 linear feet of soldier pile and concrete panel combination wall • Work Area C: Installation of 1,700 linear feet of steel sheetpile wall • Required work includes historic structure demolition, steel sheet pile or H pile and concrete panel wall construction, forming and placement of concrete caps, installation of drilled shaft mooring bollards, installation of new ductbank with new electrical lines and associated 40’ light poles.
