Description

The NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) to gather industry input on the design, fabrication, testing, delivery, and installation of controlled‑atmosphere glovebox systems (A‑BOX) for the Astromaterials Research & Exploration Science (ARES) Curation Facility. The effort will support current and future lunar and planetary sample‑return missions, with a projected performance period of June 1 2027 through May 31 2032. NASA seeks capability statements, subcontracting goals, OCI mitigation strategies, and feedback on small‑business participation. An Industry Day (virtual) is scheduled for September 16 2026, with optional one‑on‑one meetings on September 16‑17. Responses to the RFI are due by August 5 2026. • Scope: Design, fabricate, test, deliver, and install single‑unit, multi‑unit, or modular glovebox systems meeting AGS‑G001‑2007 standards. • Target customer: NASA/JSC ARES Curation Facility for lunar/planetary sample handling. • Period of performance: 5‑year IDIQ (June 2027 – May 2032). • Procurement type: Future IDIQ (likely Firm‑Fixed‑Price delivery orders). • Small‑business participation: Feedback on subcontracting goals and barriers is requested. • Key dates: Industry Day – Sept 16 2026; RFI response deadline – Aug 5 2026; question deadline – July 29 2026. • Contact: Contracting Officer Victoria N. Miller ([email protected]).

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $20,000,000

No exact contract value is disclosed. Based on similar NASA IDIQs for specialized scientific equipment, a 5‑year period with multiple delivery orders could range from a few million to low‑tens of millions of dollars. Assuming 3‑5 glovebox systems at $1‑3 M each plus engineering and integration services, a reasonable estimate is $5 M to $20 M total. Factors influencing the range include the number of units, customization level, and whether the contract is a single‑award IDIQ with multiple task orders.
