Unit 8 Battery Replacement at the Power Plant

The City of Ames is seeking bids from qualified vendors to replace the station batteries for Unit 8 at the Power Plant. The project includes replacing the batteries, spill containment system, and several battery accessories. The batteries must meet specific technical requirements, including compatibility with the existing LaMarche A12B Battery Charger and compliance with ANSI, NEMA, and IEEE standards. The vendor shall supply, install, and start up the new battery set and remove and properly dispose of the existing station battery, spill protection, and rack, as necessary. Key aspects of the project include: • Replacement of 60-cell battery with a new battery set • Installation of a new spill containment system • Provision of battery accessories, such as nameplate, warning labels, and intercell connecting straps • Disposal of old batteries and documentation to satisfy EPA and regulatory requirements • Installation of new equipment and material, including rack, spill container, and batteries
