Description
The State of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources has issued a Regional Manager’s Decision authorizing a private, non‑exclusive easement to GPG Alaska Resources Inc. for a 25‑year term. The easement covers approximately 11.2 acres of state‑owned upland near Glacier Highway, 21 mi northwest of Juneau, and provides a 15‑ft wide, 1.3‑mile unpaved access road plus two 1‑acre staging areas to support mineral exploration on adjacent USFS land. Development is split into two phases: Phase 1 (0.17 mi road segment and first staging area) is authorized immediately; Phase 2 (remaining 1.13 mi road and second staging area) requires a USFS Plan of Operations approval. Construction will involve standard earth‑moving equipment, shot‑rock roadbed, culverts, fencing, security cameras, and seasonal snow‑plowing.
