6640--Inhalation Exposure System

The Department of Veterans Affairs, on behalf of the Charleston VA Medical Center, intends to award a sole source contract for the procurement of the Buxco Inhalation Exposure System manufactured by Data Sciences International. The system provides real-time respiration monitoring during exposure and is critical for animal welfare, breathe morphology, reduction in animal use, and determining accurate deposition levels. The contract is a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) action, and all responsible sources may submit a capability statement for consideration by the Government. • The system must provide accurate real-time respiration monitoring during exposure. • The system must be integrated with real-time concentration values to produce live Accumulated Inhaled Aerosol (AIA). • The system must have the ability to perform subject-specific delivered dose targeting, multiple dose-groups exposure, and user safety from aerosol contamination. • The system must have automated plethysmograph calibration and software-controlled automation/regulation of critical inhalation tower parameters. • The system must utilize patented Halcyon technology to cancel out atmospheric pressure noise. • The system must feature the patented Allay-restraint system to secure animals for dosing and measurement without physical constriction.
