The United States Air Force is conducting market research to identify capable vendors who can provide a tactical unattended ground-based Counter-Small Unmanned Aerial System (cUAS) sensor. The system must meet or beat the capabilities outlined in the Salient Characteristics Attachment. The system should be able to detect human presence and movement, have seismic sensing capabilities, and be able to detect vehicles within 5 meters via magnetic sensing. The system must also be able to passively detect signals emitted from electronic devices and have edge computing, encoding, and AES 256 data encryption. The sensors must be self-contained, operating on internal batteries, and be lightweight and small. The system must also be scalable, able to collect and store a minimum of 300,000 sensor alarms, and have a user interface that operates on commonly available windows-enabled tablets and laptop computers.
Some key features of the system include:
• Distributed, low-power, low-profile sensor system
• Seismic sensing for human footsteps and vehicle movement
• Magnetic sensing for vehicle detection
• Passive infrared "break-wire" sensing for human and vehicle movement
• Edge computing, encoding, and AES 256 data encryption
• Self-contained, operating on internal batteries
• Lightweight and small, with sensor nodes being no larger than 325 cubic centimeters and having a dry weight of no more than 350 grams
• Scalable, able to collect and store a minimum of 300,000 sensor alarms
• User interface that operates on commonly available windows-enabled tablets and laptop computers
