Leading Edge Acceleration Projects (LEAP) in Health Information Technology

The Leading Edge Acceleration Projects (LEAP) in Health Information Technology funding opportunity aims to address challenges in the development, use, and advancement of health IT. The opportunity focuses on two areas of interest: demonstrating readiness of FHIR-based Subscriptions capability and identifying innovative technical approaches to increase adoption of Individual Access Services (IAS) in the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). The funding opportunity is open to public or non-profit private institutions, units of local or state government, eligible agencies of the federal government, and Indian/Native American Tribal Governments. • The two areas of interest are: • Area 1: Demonstrate readiness of FHIR-based Subscriptions capability as a foundational health IT capability for improved interactivity with third-party applications. • Area 2: Identify and test innovative technical approaches that would inform future changes to the TEFCA infrastructure to increase adoption of IAS. • Applicants have flexibility to propose activities that achieve the goals and objectives of the areas of interest. • The funding opportunity will support innovative and breakthrough solutions to maximize the potential of health IT and achieve the goal of a transformed healthcare delivery system.
