Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, is seeking innovative solutions to address weaknesses in energy-related supply chains and manufacturing processes. The goal is to develop domestic capabilities for processing and manufacturing, with a focus on workforce development. The project aims to transition from prototype design to enhanced processing and manufacturing capabilities, with the success measured by the ability of the developed domestic technologies to perform as well as or better than the at-risk materials, subcomponents, and processes currently being used. Key aspects of the project include: • Developing domestic technologies for processing and manufacturing • Enhancing workforce development for processing and manufacturing • Transitioning from prototype design to enhanced processing and manufacturing capabilities • Improving the performance of energy storage and specific generation systems • Incorporating commonality and standardization through development, prototyping, and demonstration efforts

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this project is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or funding amount. However, considering the scope of the project, which involves developing domestic technologies for processing and manufacturing, the budget could potentially be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant research and development efforts, as well as the potential for prototype development and testing. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the project, the number of vendors participating, and the level of funding allocated to the Expeditionary Missions Consortium (EMC2) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA).
