Sources Sought Notice for Mass comparator with 10 kg capacity and 1 mg readability

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a mass comparator with a 10 kg capacity and 1 mg readability. The mass comparator will be used in a temperature-controlled laboratory environment to determine the volumes of gas collection vessels with low uncertainty. The minimum requirements for the mass comparator include a 10 kg capacity with 1 mg readability, repeatability less than 2 mg without vibration isolation, temperature drift less than 0.0004% of reading/°C, and a settling time less than 5 seconds. • The mass comparator must be able to fit a 1.5 ft x 1.5 ft footprint excluding any manufacturer-supplied draft shields. • The mass comparator must have a "hanging" hook for weighing objects suspended from the bottom. • NIST is seeking information on the equipment that can meet the objectives addressed in the BACKGROUND section of the notice. • Respondents must provide information on the technical specifications, performance capabilities, and customization options for the proposed equipment. • Respondents must also provide information on the standard terms and conditions of sale, including delivery time, FOB shipping terms, manufacturer warranty, and equipment setup and test.
