Strengthening ties between the U.S. and Cyprus

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus is seeking proposals for the Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. The program aims to support the strengthening of ties and advancing relations between the U.S. and Cyprus. Proposals should focus on one of the following priority areas: bicommunal engagement activities, support of global governance and human rights, economic diversification efforts, countering disinformation, academic collaboration, cultural exchanges, English language proficiency, and science and technology cooperation. • Bicommunal engagement activities: Projects promoting interaction of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth and young professionals to facilitate ties, increase tolerance, and counter hate. • Support of global governance, social inclusion and human rights: Projects fortifying democratic processes, addressing transnational issues such as climate change, supporting human rights, migrants, and anti-trafficking projects. • Support economic diversification efforts: Projects enhancing business and entrepreneurial skills using U.S. models, creating new U.S.-Cyprus partnerships and opportunities for start-up companies. • Countering disinformation, enhancing digital literacy, supporting excellence in journalism: Projects supporting investigative journalism and/or strengthening media and civil society’s ability to counter disinformation. The program is open to U.S. and Cypriot non-profit organizations, individuals, and non-profit or educational institutions. For-profit institutions are not eligible to receive funding. The total available funding is $60,000, with a maximum award of $15,000 per project. The length of the performance period is 2 to 24 months.
