FY26 LGRC Cadet Tailor Shop Embroidery Machines

The US Air Force Academy (USAFA) intends to award a sole source commercial contract to Barudan America, Inc. for the procurement of two embroidery machines. The contract will be awarded using simplified acquisition procedures, and the anticipated award date is on or before 30 September 2026. The USAFA has determined that Barudan is the only responsible source capable of providing the required equipment without causing significant operational disruption and incurring substantial and avoidable costs for equipment overhaul and personnel retraining. The required equipment includes two Barudan single head embroidery machines, along with various accessories and a 5-3-2 warranty. • The equipment will be used to support the increased embroidery requirements for OCP/USSF uniforms. • The cadet tailor shop currently has 6 Barudan embroidery machines, and purchasing additional Barudan brand machines will enable the tailor shop to control all the embroidery machines from a single computer. • The contract personnel are extensively trained and proficient in the operation and maintenance of Barudan machinery, and introducing a different brand would mandate a new, costly training program. • The procurement is valued below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT), and a separate Justification and Approval will not be posted.
