NASA’s Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is seeking a university partner—specifically Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University—to complete, validate, and integrate a SUMO‑based Spaceport Traffic Model into the Spaceport Digital Twin (SDT). The effort will be performed primarily by a graduate researcher under faculty oversight, lasting 180 working days, and will involve model refinement, traffic‑demand development, vehicle‑classification analysis, scenario library creation, verification/validation, and transition support to the SDT environment. Deliverables include updated network packages, demand‑input datasets, classification models, scenario libraries, validation reports, integration packages, user guides, and final training materials. Work will be conducted at the university with on‑site visits to KSC as needed. The contract will be awarded on a sole‑source basis under FAR 12.102(a).
• Complete and refine the existing SUMO traffic model for KSC/CCSFS roadways.
• Develop reproducible traffic‑demand inputs and vehicle‑classification algorithms (including optional ML components).
• Create a library of operational scenarios (launch‑day, construction, weekend, etc.).
• Perform verification, validation, and calibration against available observational data.
• Provide integration support, documentation, training, and final hand‑off to NASA.
• Duration: 180 working days; primary location: university facilities with required KSC site access.
