The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement for the Fort Frederica National Monument Youth Conservation Internships project. The project aims to provide exposure, training, and education opportunities for young adults through collaborative participation in National Parks Service missions areas of Interpretation, Resources, Maintenance, Historic Buildings preservation, operations, and management. The project will create two youth internships, one on the Interpretation and Resources team and the other on the Maintenance and Historic Buildings Preservation team. The interns will work alongside NPS personnel to contribute to the improvement of visitor services and facilities, as well as enhance visitors' experience, understanding, and appreciation of Fort Frederica.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Recruitment of two interns to work on Interpretation and Resources and Maintenance and Historic Buildings Preservation teams
• Provision of administrative support and project oversight to the youth and NPS
• Training and coaching of interns in NPS missions areas
• Orientation to park resources, programs, and mission
• Opportunities for interns to work in other park operations and gain real-world experience in managing park resources.
