Description

The County of Sacramento is seeking qualified pest‑control contractors to conduct coordinated pesticide treatments against the invasive Glassy‑Winged Sharpshooter (GWSS) across infested residential, park, school and roadside properties within the county’s regulatory area. The work includes both foliar spray applications and soil‑injection treatments using EPA‑registered products, with strict compliance to label directions, weather constraints, and licensing requirements. Contractors must hold a current California pest‑control business license, a Qualified Applicator License (categories A, B, C), and be able to treat up to 20 properties per day with a response time of 2 days. Monthly progress reports are required, and the contract term is anticipated to be six months from award. The County may award multiple contracts and will select the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. • Scope: Foliar insecticide sprays on host plants within 150 m of confirmed GWSS sites; soil injection treatments on the same zones. • Required products: Tempo SC Ultra, Altus, Merit 2F (foliar); Merit 2F or CoreTect (soil). • Licensing: Current pest‑control business license & Qualified Applicator License (A‑B‑C). • Capacity: Up to 20 residential properties per day; 2‑day response time. • Reporting: Monthly activity reports and 30‑day forward schedule. • Contract length: Approximately 6 months. • Award criteria: Lowest responsive and responsible bid; compliance with all County terms and Good Neighbor Policy.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $300,000

The solicitation does not disclose a total contract value. Based on typical county pest‑control rates (≈ $150 per residential property for foliar treatment and $20 per inch of trunk for soil injection) and an estimated workload of up to 20 properties per day over a six‑month period, the total spend could range from roughly $100 k for a minimal effort to $300 k for full‑capacity operations, including labor, materials, reporting, and compliance costs. Larger contractor capacity or additional sites would push the high end upward.
