The Military Sealift Command (MSC) is seeking information from potential sources for Standard ISO containers that can be used to store flammable materials, including paint, on USCG-certified, ABS-classed cargo ships, specifically the T-AKE Class Ships. The containers must meet American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Marine Vessel Rules (MVR) and 46 CFR requirements. The replacement modules should have the same general layout as the existing modules, with a door installed at one end and externally mounted components at the opposite end. They should be standard ISO 20’ containers with dimensions of 8’ wide x 20’ long x 9.5’ high (high top) or 8.5’ high (standard). The modules will require a fixed, total-flooding firefighting system, a junction box for connection to the shipboard fire detection system, and shelving 24” deep along both sides.
• The modules must meet ABS and USCG requirements for paint lockers installed in ships that carry SOLAS Certification and are ABS-classed as Cargo Ships.
• The modules should be designed and constructed in accordance with ABS/USCG requirements.
• The modules will receive power from the ship and should not exceed 50 full load amps in normal operation.
• The modules require a fixed, total-flooding firefighting system that is actuated manually, and interlocked with the ventilation system to secure power and close the fire dampers.
• The modules will carry properly segregated HAZMAT on shelves and will not carry barrels, so they do not require a spill containment sump.
