The National Park Service's American Battlefield Protection Program (NPS ABPP) is offering grants to assist state and local governments, and their nonprofit partners, in acquiring and preserving eligible Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War battlefield lands. The grants require a dollar-for-dollar non-Federal match and will be awarded competitively. Eligible applicants must submit an application package, including a project narrative, budget, and other supporting documents. The application package must be submitted through Grants.gov. The NPS ABPP will review and evaluate applications based on criteria such as historical significance, resource analysis, and preservation strategy.
• Historical significance and integrity of the battlefield land
• Resource analysis and proposed activities for preservation
• Statement of threat, preservation strategy, and future sustainability
• Qualification, experience, and capacity of the applicant and partners
• Cost share and budget information
• Project timeline and milestones
• Public access and enjoyment of the acquired land
