DoD Kidney Cancer, Translational Research Partnership Award

The DoD Kidney Cancer, Translational Research Partnership Award, supports partnerships between clinicians and research scientists to accelerate the movement of promising ideas in kidney cancer toward clinical applications. The award requires two independent, faculty-level (or equivalent) investigators, one research scientist and one clinician, to address a central problem or question in kidney cancer. The proposed research must be relevant to active-duty Service Members, Veterans, and/or the American public. Key aspects of the award include: • Partnership: Success depends on unique skills and contributions of each partner. • Translation: Reciprocal transfer of information between basic and clinical science. • Impact: Potential to have a significant impact on kidney cancer research and/or patient care. • Feasibility: Access to necessary specimens, data, and/or intervention. • Preliminary Data: Unpublished results or published literature relevant to kidney cancer and the proposed research project. The award supports the development of translational research collaborations, and multi-institutional partnerships are encouraged. The application should provide evidence for the reciprocal transfer of information between basic and clinical science and demonstrate how the study will leverage clinical information to address knowledge gaps in resulting outcomes.
