Community Psychiatry Residency Training Initiative

The Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services is issuing a Request for Letters of Interest to support additional residency positions in accredited adult psychiatry residency programs in New Jersey. The goal is to address the shortage of psychiatrists in the state by increasing in-state psychiatric training opportunities. The selected programs will receive funding to support one or more four-year residency positions, and will be required to provide a community psychiatry track and ensure that residents receive significant clinical experience serving individuals with serious mental illness. The programs will also be required to recruit qualified candidates and provide supervision and mentorship to the residents. Some key requirements for applicants include: * Providing a written LOI that addresses the questions outlined in the RLI * Submitting a LOI narrative that is no more than three pages * Including required attachments such as a Statement of Assurances and a Certification Regarding Debarment, Suspension, Ineligibility and Voluntary Exclusion * Complying with all federal and state statutes and regulations relating to non-discrimination * Establishing safeguards to prohibit employees from using their positions for personal gain * Complying with the Davis-Bacon Act and the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act.
