Description

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is seeking proposals for the Oceanographic Facilities and Equipment Support program. This program provides support for the procurement, conversion, upgrade, enhancement, or annual operation of platforms in the ocean, coastal and near-shore waters, and Great Lakes. The primary objective of these awards is to ensure the availability of appropriate oceanographic facilities for Federally funded investigators and educators. The program includes three individual programs: Oceanographic Technical Services (Tech Services), Oceanographic Instrumentation (OI), and Shipboard Scientific Support Equipment (SSSE). Proposals may be submitted by non-profit, non-academic organizations and institutions of higher education. Some key points to consider are: * Awards are generally directed to support facilities that lend themselves to shared use within the broad range of Federally supported research and education programs. * Proposals must be for instrumentation that will support multiple research projects. * Requests for new or replacement capital equipment must be made through the SSSE or OI programs. * The program provides support for salaries and related expenses, maintenance and calibration of sensors and instrumentation, and associated travel.
