The United States Air Force is seeking to purchase a DoALL Bandsaw or equal. The bandsaw must meet specific requirements, including a 120° dual swivel head, 31.5" material pass height, control panel with a safe distance from the cutting head and vise, recirculating coolant system, variable vise pressure, digitally displayed angle position, adjustable saw blade guards, semi-automatic cycling, automatic overload feed protection, hydraulic clamping vise, hydraulic blade tension, driven band brush, and a band drive motor with a rating of more than 3 horsepower. The machine must fit within a floor space constriction of 150" width and 65" length, and have a variable band speed that reaches over 300fpm to below 80fpm.
• The bandsaw will be used for repeatable manufacturing in the Metals Technology section.
• The section has a need for precise angle cutting and variable vise pressure to accommodate various metal stock sizes.
• The recirculating coolant system with passive filtration is required for continuous and repetitive cutting of hardened steels.
• The machine must have a safe distance between the control panel and the cutting head and vise.
• The digitally displayed angle position allows for precise cutting alignment.
• The adjustable saw blade guards prevent unnecessary blade stick-out.
• The semi-automatic cycling feature grants faster production times and reduces human error.
• The automatic overload feed protection prevents the blade from snapping during an interrupted cut or improper speed/feed rate.
• The hydraulic clamping vise produces correct pressure on various stock/part sizes and shapes.
• The hydraulic blade tension ensures the blade is not over or under tensioned.
• The driven band brush prevents metal chips from clogging the blade.
• The band drive motor must have a rating of more than 3 horsepower to accommodate hardened steel cutting.
