Description

The City of New Rochelle is seeking proposals from experienced engineering consultants to undertake improvements to existing traffic signals on North Ave from the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) to Mill Rd/Wilmot Rd. The project aims to evaluate and correct any elements of existing traffic signals that may not be in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), and integration of state-of-the-art pedestrian safety measures. The selected firm will collaborate closely with City staff and stakeholders to deliver high-quality design and construction support services. • The project entails design and construction of new mast arm traffic signals, ADA and PROWAG compliant pedestrian signals and ramps, and connection of all traffic signals to the CNR Central System. • The selected firm will conduct a detailed topographic survey of the project intersections, including roadways, sidewalks, curb ramps, drainage structures, and utility infrastructure along the public right-of-way. • The firm will design traffic signal mast arms or span wire assemblies, vehicular detection, pedestrian signals and APS buttons, curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, crosswalks, and sidewalks in accordance with the latest ADA Standards for Accessible Design, NYSDOT Highway Design Manual, NYSDOT Standard Specifications, and MUTCD guidelines. • The project includes three phases: Topographic Survey and Base mapping, Development of Detailed Design and Construction Plans, and Engineering Support During Construction.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this project is not explicitly stated in the document. However, based on the scope of work, which includes design and construction of new mast arm traffic signals, ADA and PROWAG compliant pedestrian signals and ramps, and connection of all traffic signals to the CNR Central System, the estimated budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2,000,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant engineering and construction services, and the city will need to pay for the design, construction, and installation of the traffic signals and other infrastructure. The actual budget may vary depending on the complexity of the project, the number of bidders, and the city's budget.
