Notice of Sources Sought - Next Generation Fire Hose

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking information from companies that can develop and produce a next-generation wildland fire hose. The ideal hose should have high abrasion and puncture resistance, high heat resistance, reduced weight, high flexibility, and packability. The hose should also have a long service life and be designed for easy refurbishment and end-of-life disposal. The USDA is looking for companies that can provide a capability statement outlining their core capabilities, available technology, past performance, and other differentiators that would indicate their ability to meet the needs outlined in the general requirements. • The hose should be able to withstand the rigors of the fireline without failure • The hose should be highly resistant to abrasion and punctures • The hose should be able to resist damage from hot embers and radiant heat • The hose should have a reduced weight compared to current models • The hose should be highly flexible and packable • The hose should have a long service life (greater than 5 years)
