5.56 Rifle and Accessories

The United States Secret Service (USSS) is seeking to establish an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract for the procurement of 5.56 AR-15 style rifles and accessories. The contract will have a five-year ordering period, and task orders will be placed against the established IDIQ contract. The rifles must be commercially available, exhibit a manual of operation consistent with the existing 5.56 SR16 Service Rifle (AR-15) family of weapons, and meet specific requirements such as semi-automatic firing capability, sound suppression, and compatibility with assorted ammunition. The contractor must also provide armorer training, spare parts inventory, and tools required to service the weapon. Some key requirements of the rifles include: • A dark subdued, rust/corrosion resistant finish • Chambering in accordance with current SAAMI Specifications for 5.56 x 45mm • Operability by a right-handed shooter without modification or alteration • A minimum service life of 10,000 rounds for the barrel • A non-adjustable two-stage trigger with a weight of 4.0 lbs minimum and 6.5 lbs maximum • A modular free-floating handguard assembly with configurable rail mounting space • A MAGPUL MIAD GEN 1.1 Grip Kit – Type 1 and a MAGPUL CTR Carbine Stock The contractor must also comply with the National Firearms Act and other applicable statutes and regulations.
