DNR Glacial Lakes State Park Renovation

The Department of Natural Resources is requesting proposals for design, bid, and construction phase services to replace the campground shower building and associated facilities, develop a new accessible trail experience, and make numerous accessibility and useability improvements in the park. The goals of the project are to replace the shower building and associated septic system, revise various cabins sites, camp sites, and parking spaces to accommodate accessibility, replace the oak wood savanna trail to a new location to accommodate accessibility, upgrade the water access area, and modify the day use area. The project requires coordination with the DNR water resources, natural resources, and cultural resources teams. • The project includes demolition of the existing shower building and construction of a new shower building with a septic system and water softener and iron filter discharge dispersal seepage bed system. • The project includes revisions to the campground area, including making four campsites accessible and adding two new accessible water spigots. • The project includes replacement of the oak wood savanna trail with a new accessible paved trail and installation of a new accessible carry-in dock with board safe kayak launch. • The project includes modifications to the day use area, including installation of a new accessible kiosk and water spigot. • The project requires a survey of 6 acres of Oak Wood Savanna to accommodate the trail design and topographical surveys of various areas. • The project requires wetland and aquatic resource delineation and permitting, and geotechnical evaluation to characterize the subsurface geologic conditions.
