Description

The project focuses on stabilizing and restoring the shoreline along the left descending bank of Lake Sharpe near Lower Brule, South Dakota. Work includes constructing a 100‑foot‑wide riparian planting bench, installing a gravel maintenance path, building a riprap revetment to protect the shoreline, and creating a new 200‑by‑1,500‑foot island in water up to three feet deep. The resulting open water area will develop into roughly 5.17 acres of emergent wetland and about 32 acres of riparian habitat. Associated tasks involve earth moving, grading, bank shaping, rock placement, water management, fill placement, and topsoil application. • 100‑ft wide riparian planting bench and gravel path • Riprap revetment and new island construction • Creation of ~5.2 acres wetland and ~32 acres riparian habitat • Extensive earthwork, grading, rock installation, and water management activities
