The Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program provides financial assistance to rural communities to acquire distance learning and telemedicine technologies. Eligible applicants include incorporated organizations, Indian tribes, state or local governments, consortia, and other legal entities. The grant can be used for various purposes, including acquiring and installing eligible equipment, purchasing extended warranties and maintenance contracts, acquiring or developing instructional programming, providing technical assistance and instruction, and purchasing and installing broadband facilities. The grant amount ranges from $50,000 to $750,000, and the applicant must provide a matching contribution of at least 15% of the grant amount.
