The Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is seeking a contractor to design and build a Metal Oxide Infrared Reflection Absorption Spectroscopy (MOIRRAS) accessory. The accessory will be used to study sub-monolayer coverages of molecules on metal oxide single crystals. The contractor will collaborate with the BNL to design and build the accessory, and will also be responsible for testing and installing the accessory. The project will include designing and building the MOIRRAS accessory, confirming the design of the UHV chamber, installing the accessory at the BNL, and performing preliminary studies with adsorbates on Cu2O single crystals.
• The contractor will design an IRRAS accessory that polarizes the IR light and selects a range of incident angles.
• The contractor will build the MOIRRAS accessory and test it to the extent possible at their home institution.
• The contractor will collaborate with the BNL to install the accessory and perform validation tests.
• The contractor will perform preliminary studies with adsorbates on Cu2O single crystals.
• The contractor will submit a progress report every month and collaborate with the BNL on publications.
