The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified cooperative agreement for the Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps project. The project aims to provide job and service opportunities for up to 70 young adults from distinct rural, Native American communities. The project also includes engaging up to 60 school-aged children from Acoma and Zuni Pueblo with their local National Parks to provide recreational and service opportunities.
Some key points about the project include:
• Providing Native American work crews to address critical infrastructure and cyclic maintenance at National Parks
• Providing culturally relevant recreation and service activities for Native American school-aged youth at National Parks
• Supporting the self-empowerment and sovereignty of Native American communities through the further development of Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps programs
• Completing critical back log maintenance projects on NPS units with the goal of building long-term capacity, partnerships, and resources
• Engaging Native American youth to their National Parks through employment opportunities on natural and cultural resource projects at NPS units
