PKAA, New Dominion NTCRA Project

The New Dominion NTCRA project is located on U.S. Forest Service, Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, Gunnison (GMUG), Norwood district managed lands and a private conservation easement owned by the Town of Ophir. The project goals are to divert the water away from the existing waste rock piles and cap the waste rock pile to prevent human health exposure and consolidate the upper pile away from the portal to prevent interaction with the draining mine water. The project includes construction of hardened channels, permanent fencing, and hydrologic controls. The project is expected to start on September 2, 2026, and be completed by October 31, 2026. • Construction of hardened channels • Installation of permanent fencing • Implementation of hydrologic controls • Revegetation of disturbed areas • Removal of temporary water diversions • Repair of lower beaver dam and reconstruction of beaver deceiver • Capping of waste pile and consolidation area with clean rock
