Description

NASA Glenn Research Center’s Propulsion Systems Laboratory is seeking a vendor to provide two pieces of specialized equipment: (1) a 115‑V electric tube bender capable of handling a range of metal tube diameters, and (2) a multi‑head hydraulic swaging unit with a complete tooling kit. The equipment will be used in‑house to fabricate and swage ferrules onto tubing, reducing reliance on external suppliers. NASA requires that the delivered units meet applicable ASME BPVC and NBIC standards, include manufacturer warranties, and pass visual and functional inspections. Delivery must occur within the performance period of July 30 2026 to November 14 2026, and any non‑conforming items will be corrected at the contractor’s expense. Capability statements are requested; no price quotes will be evaluated at this stage. • Equipment: 115‑V electric tube bender and multi‑head hydraulic swaging unit with tooling kit. • Location: NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH and Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility, Sandusky, OH. • Performance period: 7/30/2026 – 11/14/2026 (≈ 108 days). • Compliance: ASME BPVC Sect. VIII‑Div 1, NBIC NB‑23, ISO/AS9100 quality standards optional. • Deliverables: Fully functional units, warranty documentation, inspection reports. • Submission: Capability statements only; no pricing required at this stage.

Budget estimate

$150,000 – $400,000

Based on typical market prices for comparable equipment, a 115‑V electric tube bender ranges from $50,000 to $150,000, while a multi‑head hydraulic swaging unit with a full tooling kit can cost between $100,000 and $250,000. Adding warranty, shipping, and integration support, the total contract value is likely to fall between $150,000 and $400,000. The final amount will depend on specific performance specifications, optional accessories, and any required custom engineering.
