Description
The Navy Supply Fleet Logistics San Diego (NAVSUP FLCSD) intends to award a sole-source contract to Chestnut Ridge Foam, Inc. for the procurement of 352 CR SAFGUARD XL (Soft) Dual-Firmness mattresses. The primary purpose of this acquisition is to facilitate a comprehensive shipboard sleep study conducted by COMNAVSURFPAC. The study aims to evaluate the impact of specific mattress technologies on service member sleep hygiene, cognitive performance, and overall physiological recovery within the unique constraints of a maritime operational environment.
• The mattresses must meet specific medical/ergonomic requirements and maintain proprietary life-safety fire performance.
• The CR SAFGUARD XL (Soft) Dual-Firmness mattress is the only known product that meets these requirements.
• The mattress utilizes a specialized, inherently fire-resistant foam core and has a proprietary pin-cored structure that provides necessary pressure relief without compromising structural integrity or fire resistance.
