The State of Michigan is seeking a contractor to perform various safety improvements at the Egeler Reception & Guidance Center. The work includes furnishing and installing new pre-finished steel screen panels on the face of balconies and stairs in three cell blocks, removing a portion of the existing rails, furnishing and installing supporting steel members for the screen panels, and modifying the locations of exit signs that will be in the way of the new screens. The project requires a performance bond and a payment bond for all contracts over $50,000.00. The contract time is 305 calendar days. • The project involves working with steel screen panels, supporting steel members, and exit signs. • The contractor must ensure that all work and materials conform to the rules and requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, the local Electrical Code, and present manufacturing standards. • The contractor must also ensure that all installations meet NEC 2023 code book and follow the guidelines for NFPA 70. • The project requires firestopping around cables and raceways, and the contractor must verify that all conduits, walls, and raceways required to be firestopped have been firestopped.
