The Inspire! Grants for Small Museums program is a special initiative of the Museums for America grant program, designed to support small museums of all disciplines in project-based efforts to serve the public. The program has three project categories: Lifelong Learning, Institutional Capacity, and Collections Stewardship and Access. Applicants must align their proposed project with one or more of the associated objectives. The program goal is to build the capacity of small museums to provide museum services to their communities.
• The program supports project-based efforts in areas such as exhibitions, educational/interpretive programs, digital learning resources, policy development, and institutional planning.
• The program encourages applicants to consider the size and attributes of their organization, including the number of staff members and volunteers, operating budget, and types of audiences served.
• The program requires applicants to submit a Digital Products Plan, which outlines the digital content, resources, or assets to be created or collected, and how they will be made available to the public.
