The Suwannee River Water Management District is inviting bids for a timber sale on approximately 219 acres of land in Columbia County, Florida. The sale consists of two harvest types: an unmarked third-row logger select first thinning on 189 acres of planted slash pine, and an unmarked select only thinning on 30 acres of previously third-row thinned planted slash pine. The purchaser will be required to leave 50 square feet of basal area per acre of the largest, best formed trees in all residual stands. The logging slash will be scattered back through the stand. The successful bidder will be required to execute a 12-month contract and pay an advance payment of $20,000. The bidder will also be required to deposit $10,000 as a damage and security deposit.
• The sale area can be inspected at the bidder's convenience
• The harvest boundaries are shown on the map
• Loaded trucks may not use the bridge across Little Suwannee Creek
• The bidder will be responsible for roads and road maintenance during the harvest
• The bidder must follow best management practices and abide by Florida Silviculture BMPs
