Description
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is seeking up to three nonprofit “Climate Works” hubs to operate regional pre‑apprenticeship centers that recruit, prescreen, and provide free, stipend‑supported training for equity‑focused individuals preparing for construction‑trade and clean‑energy apprenticeship careers. Each award ranges from $3 M to $6.5 M and must include Energy Transition Barrier Reduction services (wrap‑around supports such as childcare, travel stipends, and certifications). Grantees must serve a large IDOT‑based region, partner with local contractors and apprenticeship programs, and meet reporting, procurement, and indirect‑cost requirements. The program runs June 2027 – May 2030 (3 years) with possible two‑year renewal extensions.
