The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement for a wildlife-camera monitoring project. The project's goal is to support research internships with undergraduate-level students to participate in work related to conducting wildlife monitoring at Sonoran Desert Network and Chihuahuan Desert Network parks. The project objectives include conducting multiple deployments and retrievals of digital camera-traps at locations throughout multiple park units. The products of this collaboration will support park resource management and provide an educational opportunity.
• The recipient will recruit, hire, and provide administrative oversight for a wildlife intern to conduct camera deployments and data management.
• The recipient's staff scientists and field biologists will provide ecological and logistical expertise as needed throughout the agreement period.
• The intern will complete deployment of approximately 300 cameras across 7 small and medium-sized network parks.
