The FY25 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) is a funding opportunity for accredited U.S. institutions of higher education to purchase equipment and instrumentation in support of research in areas of interest to the Department of Defense (DoD). The program aims to improve the basic research capabilities of these institutions and to educate scientists and engineers in areas important to national defense. Proposals should address the impact of the equipment or instrumentation on the institution's ability to educate students through research in disciplines important to DoD missions.
Key aspects of the program include:
* 12-month awards for acquisition of basic research equipment/instrumentation
* Capacity building in areas of vital importance to DoD – research and human capital
* Long-term investment via short grant
* No past, current, or future DoD funding required and no citizenship requirements
* DURIP is not a research award
* Equipment or instrumentation should be used to expose students to research of relevance to the DoD on state-of-the-art instrumentation
* Proposals should be routed to a single core technical program officer and should address the evaluation criteria noted in the DURIP FOA
